As Specialists in orthopedics, sports medicine, osteopathy, acupuncture, physical therapy, chiropractic, osteology DVO, we invite you to get to know our center, with numerous diagnostic and treatment options.

You can expect a motivated and friendly team to make your stay at our center as pleasant as possible.

Cologne has a thriving economy that consists of many foreign companies as well as a growing tourism industry. We would like to welcome all these foreign workers and visitors from abroad who desire diagnosis and treatment in our center. Therefore we would like to explain the medical care we provide:

At our modern practice in Cologne, we are pleased to be able to offer extensive treatment options for joint and spinal disorders. Our team of highly trained and experienced physicians specializes in non-surgical and minimally invasive treatment of chronic joint and back pain. Within 1-4 weeks intensive and conservative treatment of degenerative joint disease (e.g. osteoarthritis of the knee, shoulder joint arthrosis) and chronic back pain can be carried out. The therapy consists of targeted infiltrations into the painful joints or in the small joints of the spine. Complementary treatments such as hyaluronic injections, acupuncture, magnetic therapy, laser therapy, neural therapy, osteopathy, and shock wave therapy are some of the many treatment options we offer. It is also possible to treat painful nerves specifically, with freezing therapy (cryo therapy). Besides the classic conventional medical treatments we also use Nontraditional methods. Here the person is treated with a holistic approach. Due to our extensive experience we can confidently say that the above-mentioned treatment measures are able to relieve the symptoms and promote the healing process of our patients most effectively. If necessary, minor surgery on the knee and shoulder joint takes place in a cooperative state of the art clinic. In-house our practice includes short-term physiotherapy treatment, which we offer in addition to our other reliable treatment measures.

The Porz orthopedic center is located near the Cologne Bonn airport, with several hotel accommodations located in close proximity to our practice. Furthermore, Cologne offers numerous tourist attraction and excursions, e.g. Cologne Cathedral as well as excellent shopping opportunities.

          Our services

In our specialist medical group practice are treated all diseases and injuries of the skeletal and musculoskeletal system.

There are all modern diagnostic procedures in orthopedics, traumatology, sports medicine and rheumatology available as ultrasound, digital X-ray and far-reaching process of laboratory examination.

For the specific issues we have a collaboration with radiological diagnostic centers (MRI, CT, 3-phase skeletal scintigraphy, etc.).

After extensive clinical diagnostics, we offer an extensive range of conservative (non-surgical) and surgical treatment methods.

          Cryoneuroablation
          • What is Cryo Neuroablation? The Cryo Neuroablation (also called Kryoanalgesie or Kryoneurolyse) is a special technique to a long-term pain relief achieved. In this therapeutic method pathologically altered nerves or nerve endings are selectively interrupted selectively. The Cryo Ablation is gaining in importance as an innovative method in the treatment of pain. The nerve is not permanently damaged and thus the nerve tissue can recover slowly and risk-free. The method is safe, minimally invasive and can then be particularly recommended when conservative treatments have proved ineffective.
          Osteopathy
          • Life is movement Osteopathy is a healing known integrated system, which was developed in the mid-19th century in the United States. The founding father, Dr. Andrew Taylor Still (1828-1917), looking for a way to treat diseases without drugs or surgery successfully. Osteopathy is based on the full functioning of the musculoskeletal system and strives to correct impairments which obviously involve a decreased functioning of the internal organs. While osteopathy previously only received on diseases of the skeleton, she looks today in addition, the functional relationships with the institutions and with the neurovascular system. Osteopathy rid the body of tension and movement restrictions of any kind and is working to mobilize the people inherent self-healing powers. A better balance between the structure and all functions of the body is produced. Three large systems can be distinguished: First, there is the parietal osteopathy for the treatment of muscle-joint system. Musculoskeletal disorders such as joint blockages are dissolved by gentle techniques and eased tensions. Secondly there is the visceral (lat .: Viscera - viscera) osteopathy which is used for treatment of internal organs. Third, the craniosacral (lat .: cranium - skull, sacrum - the sacrum) Osteopathy known who is responsible for the treatment of brain and surrounding structures. The following principles, which follows the osteopathic therapy, developed by Dr. Andrew Still: • The body is a unit involved and always as a whole to health and disease. • The body itself has its own healing powers. • structure and function are mutually connected with each other. Osteopathic therapy always involves the whole people into the treatment and try to get to the human person in his or her physical, emotional and spiritual uniqueness and achieve the goal of treatment with him.
          Chiropractic
          • The chiropractic, like osteopathy, is a form of manual therapy, which was developed in the late 19th century in the United States. Diseases and disorders are only with hands (Latin manus = hand) treated. The basic idea of chiropractic (Greek: cheir = hand) is that can be physical ailments traced back to misalignments and blockages of joints. Accordingly, a variety of diseases by identifying and eliminating impaired joint function can be treated. Cause of disturbed joint function in turn can also be internal diseases in connective tissue-muscular area of the body statics or. The following symptoms may i.a. caused by a joint blockage: - Back pain - Neck and head pain - Dizziness - blurred vision - Tinnitus (chronic ringing in the ears.) - Back pain with Disabilities - Pain in the chest with breathing pain - Discomfort in the arms or legs The chiropractic is a gentle form of therapy. Nevertheless, it can albeit very rarely cause injuries especially in the neck area. To avoid this necessary detailed anatomy knowledge and a thorough education of therapists. The chiropractic is a contractual service. The costs are covered by your health insurance.
          Sports Medicine
          • Lack of exercise can lead to a variety of disorders (hypertension, diabetes). The sports medicine includes the relationship between body and function of man, his achievements in the various sporting disciplines and the prevention and treatment of sports injury and sports injuries. The importance of sport also takes ages to increase. Due to the fact that people can spend less and less time for athletic movement and training as a whole, it can then lead to an imbalance of stress and resilience. Physical health is an important prerequisite for the practice of sport. We offer in addition to the surgical and non surgical treatment of sports injuries to a sports medical check and specific advice for their particular sport. This prevention, which also includes a sensible diet to injury, inflammation and discomfort can be avoided.
          Osteoporosis
          • What is osteoporosis? Osteoporosis is a systemic skeletal disease, which to · Decreased bone mass · deterioration of microarchitecture · Increased fracture tendency Runs. According to the World Health Organization, osteoporosis is one of the 10 most important diseases. The emergence of osteoporosis There are bone-forming cells (osteoblasts) and bone-degrading cells (osteoclasts). The Osteoklasten break down within a few days old bone, the osteoblasts build it within many weeks on. In osteoporosis, more bone is broken down than grown. The result is a negative balance. Result is a thinning of the trabeculae or even destruction. This leads to a decrease in bone mass with simultaneous destruction of the microarchitecture. Typical fractures in osteoporosis · Vertebral fractures · Hip fractures · Wrist fractures More frequent breaks are humeral head fractures, pelvic fractures and rib fractures. Normally with osteoporosis for all bone at increased risk of fracture. Diagnosis of Osteoporosis Clinical symptoms of osteoporosis occur only when that occurred fractures. Radiographs Radiographs of the spine are performed at size reduction by 4 cm and more in the last year or clinical evidence of a vertebral fracture. A visible on the radiograph reduction of bone density can only be expected from a bone loss of 30-35%. Laboratory Osteoporosis is not detectable with blood tests. The blood test is needed to exclude secondary causes of osteoporosis. Bone densitometry by DXA The bone density measurement with DXA is currently recommended by the guidelines measurement method. Principle Two different types of X-rays are passed through the bone. From the attenuation of the radiation, the mineral content of the bone can be calculated. It measures the bone density at the lumbar spine and both hips. Advantages are the low radiation exposure. The measurement is quick and convenient for the patient. The measurement is the gold standard of bone density measurement, because this method was used in most studies on osteoporosis and it is recognized by the WHO. The DXA is only one component in the osteoporosis diagnosis and must be complemented by history and physical examination. The osteologists the orthopedic center Porz specialize in the diagnosis, therapy planning and therapy progress monitoring and constantly informed through special training of OSTAK and quality circles about new developments. TCM and Acupuncture
          • Acupuncture is one of the oldest medical techniques in the world. There is now also in Germany's most popular forms of therapy, because acupuncture heals and takes the pain and - when properly used - with no side effect. The holistic view of the disease is a top priority A detailed interview and physical examination lead to diagnosis. This forms the basis for acupuncture treatment. Depending on the findings come additional osteopathic treatment techniques for application. Acupuncture is a recognized treatment for pain, but is also found in many other conditions apply: Orthopaedic illnesses: • headaches and migraines • neck, shoulder and arm pain • tennis and golfers elbow • carpal tunnel syndrome • acute and chronic back pain, lumbago • sciatica (including disc degeneration) • osteoarthritis pain of all large and small joints • rheumatism • tendon injuries, overloading syndrome • postoperative functional deficits and irritations Furthermore: • colds • hay fever and allergies • cardiovascular and circulatory disorders • gastrointestinal diseases • menstrual and pregnancy complications • discomfort during menopause • sleep disorders • overweight Yamamoto New Scalp Acupuncture (Yamamoto New Scalp Acupuncture -YNSA) and Chinese scalp acupuncture YNSA and Chinese scalp acupuncture are particularly well suited to treat neurological disorders and pain disorders. The stimulation of the zones is carried out with fine acupuncture needles, and in children with lasers. YNSA and Chinese scalp acupuncture be used individually or in conjunction with other methods acupuncture and holistic therapies. indication list • acute and chronic pain of all forms • musculoskeletal pain • postoperative improvement of mobilization • mobilization of blockages locomotive • nerve pain • functional disorders • neurological disorders • stroke • bell's palsy • spasticity • birth defects •developmental disorders of children Yamamoto New Scalp Acupuncture and Chinese scalp acupuncture are two completely different forms of therapy principle. The doctor uses depending on necessity, experience, diagnostic and status of the patient. Both methods stimulate the so-called neuroplasticity. This refers to the ability of the brain to retrain throughout life. Healthy areas of the brain take over substitute functions for unusual areas (for example, the movement of a limb). YNSA plays in the daily work with scalp acupuncture usually starring opposite the chinese scalp acupuncture.
          Pulsating Magnetic Therapy
          • The pulsating magnetic field therapy is an alternative treatment method, different potency and intervals articular stimulate when produced with the help of magnetic fields pulses for regeneration. In appropriate cases, can be achieved in patients with osteoarthritis without injection pain relief and improvement in joint mobility. The Pulsating Magnetfeldherapie, is an innovative, physiologically gentle method which means bioelectric signals support the body's own repair mechanisms and promotes natural regeneration. Discomfort in the joints and spine due to injuries or natural wear and tear can significantly reduced by the process and the healing process can be accelerated. The treatment with this therapy is painless, surgery-free and has no known side effects.
          Laser Therapy
          • What is laser? Laser is simply put artificially concentrated light equal wavelength. You will know in laser applications in other fields.. Laser with high energy are in surgery (eye; spine) applied and with less energy to cure inflammation. What does laser in the tissue? • stimulation (acceleration of cell proliferation, improvement and increase of cell metabolism, • stimulate the mitochondria, the energy providers of the cell) • increasing the lymphatic and venous microcirculation (thus reducing the peritendinous edema of the inflammatory response and improve tissue repair) • change in pain perception of superficial pain receptors (increase the pain threshold by increasing the temperature of the skin receptors) A laser therapy stimulates important regulatory processes in the body and has the following effects • inflammatory • edema regress • acceleration of the lymphatic • blood circulation • wound-healing • painkilling Which laser comes into our practice to apply? We work with a device that can be used in the energy density, can be varied and also in deeper tissue layers. There are two wavelengths with different biological mode of action available. The longer wavelength (980 nm) has a pain-dampening, the shorter wavelength (810 nm) stimulates the repair processes of cells and microcirculation. Both wavelengths are used simultaneously. The power is infinitely variable up to 7 watts. When is laser treatment useful? The laser therapy is a safe procedure which is used for the treatment of inflamed tissues (muscles, tendons, joints). But even in pain therapy (acupuncture laser), injuries, poorly healing wounds and ulcers, inflammatory skin and mucous membrane diseases (herpes) can be obtained impressive treatment success. Laser therapy can also be combined with acupuncture. Applications of Laser Therapy • sprains • inflammation • strains • torn muscle fibers • tendon overloads • hematoma • edema • tennis •achilles tendon inflammation • heel pain with or without heel spur • wound healing treatment procedure The laser treatment usually takes place 2 times a week for 6-10 times and lasts 10 each - 15 min. The very energy strong room lasers developed depending on the intensity and type of skin as a side effect of heat. The laser head is held each 7-10 seconds. The pain and trigger points are treated twice each per session.
          Special Arthritis Therapy
          • Osteoarthritis is defined as a premature, excessive joint wear. It is a "social disease" of the mainly elderly patients (80% of all 70-year-old) are affected. The selection of osteoarthritis therapies is confusing only because of the number, is the fact that the results are available more or less scientifically. One thing is certain. According to current osteoarthritis is not curable and currently is the last chance of operational installation of an artificial joint, a prosthesis. The goal of your treatment is to avoid surgery as much as possible or to delay, and to provide you a good quality of life with little symptoms. We are looking for through thorough medical history and diagnosis with you for the optimal treatment combination to the example The following components may include: • intra-articular injections, for example, hyaluronic acid • acupuncture • sports consulting • introduction of an orthotic • physical therapy • targeted exercise treatment for toning and balancing of imbalances • nutritional counseling and possibly food supplements / weight loss Through the practice situation, we are able to make use of all the experts (physiotherapists, sports therapists, dietitians, occupational therapists, orthopedic technicians) in order to guarantee the optimal treatment. If required, we can of course also coordinate the necessary surgical treatment. A few words for the injection of hyaluronic acid into the joint. Hyaluronic acid is the main component of the human synovial fluid and essential component for the lubricating property of the synovial fluid. It was found that in arthritic joints, the hyaluronic acid concentration is significantly lower than normal. By the infiltration, there is an improvement in mechanical, improvement of muscular properties and a reduction of rest and stress pain. According to various studies, the improvement lasts an average of one year.
          Spine And Herniated Therapy
          • Cause of pain in the spine can i.a. be: pathological changes in the intervertebral disc (protrusions, incident), osteoarthritis of the facet joints (facets), inflammatory changes in vertebral bodies (osteochondrosis), nerve constrictions caused by osteoarthritis of the facet or scar tissue after surgery. The patient complains of constant back pain or neck pain during exercise and at night when turning, as well as numbness and pain radiating in the arms or legs. The treatment is performed under CT (computed tomography) or fluoroscopy (X-ray image intensifier). In this facet joints and nerve root are exactly sought and sprayed to control the needle location. The infiltrations are effective against pain and inflammation, and usually bring for several months significant pain relief and often complete absence of pain. The infiltrations not take longer than 15 minutes and can be repeated.
          Hyaluronic Therapy
          • What is hyaluronic acid? Joints are the moving parts of our musculoskeletal system. The articular surfaces are coated with 5-6mm thick articular cartilage around the joint is a joint capsule. The joint capsule forms around sealed cavity, the joint cavity. It is filled with a viscous fluid, synovial fluid ( "synovial fluid"), which is a product of the synovial membrane of the joint capsule. The synovial fluid contains mainly hyaluronic acid. These are long-chain sugar molecules that are found in many body tissues and perform diverse functions. They are above all known for their high water binding capacity and their ability to change their viscosity under load. Hyaluronic acids protect the cartilage layer of bone from wear, provide the articular cartilage with nutrients and act as "shock absorbers". But the joint fluid changes due to illness, she becomes thinner and can no longer fulfill its responsibilities as a "smear" of the joint. This results in pain and loss of motion, which may be getting stronger. How is it treated? An effective treatment of osteoarthritis is therefore the treatment of the affected joints with hyaluronic acids, the synovial fluid be replaced or supplemented. The doctor injects the hyaluronic acid directly into the joint space, where it is distributed by itself. By the injection of hyaluronic acid into the affected joint, the function and metabolism in the joints can be improved. The natural synovial fluid is restored and defects of the cartilage surfaces are compensated, so that the joint function returned to normal after completion of therapy usually. For successful treatment it comes to pain relief and the affected joint can better again moved and loaded. For large joints treatment with five injections at intervals of one week is recommended. Partly the duration should be adjusted individually. A repetition of injections should optimally take place after 6-12 months, as well as the renewed "synovial fluid" of time is consumed. Operations can be avoided or deferred to a later time. We use hyaluronic exclusively obtained by fermentation, i.e. no foreign protein from rooster combs. Thus, the injections are very well tolerated. Application areas The main application for a hyaluronic acid injection is the joint wear (poly / OA) of large and small joints (for example, ankles, fingers) irritation of joints caused by cartilage damage of various origins can be sustained improvement by the treatment. In principle, the hyaluronic acid is - treatment suitable for each joint. Most often it is applied to the knee joint. The cost of a hyaluronic acid treatment of articular cartilage are usually covered by private health insurance.
          Injection Therapy

          Medi-Taping
          • Taping is a good and risk-free method of treatment for many pain patients. Pain patients often have a problem of muscles (tension) and a problem of the body statics (posture). This is subject to the body of a constant false strain of the muscles. The muscles are permanently tensed thereby receives too little oxygen. By applying a tape a direct effect on the pain reflectors is possible. With landscaped taping and simultaneous movement there is an improvement of microcirculation under the taping. This achieves a more rapid excretion of excess tissue fluid (edema) and inflammation secretions. This results in the restoration of the physiological equilibrium in the muscle. The tape is an elastic longitudinal "tape". The former solid non-elastic tapes, which have been used for example for stabilization of the ankle, are not comparable with the new tape. Because of the air permeability and stretchability, it is very well tolerated. Furthermore, many aspects of Chinese medicine, acupuncture and chiropractic to be considered. Including the body statics a modern and effective taping of Dr. Dieter Sielmann was further developed and taught. For this I would refer to the below book. Further information can be obtained on the website www.medi-tape.de. The treatment is painless and free of side effects. In rare cases, there may be a patch allergy if they experience itching under the tape, the tape must be entfernet immediately. The tape may be showered long swimming should be avoided. The tape should be worn for several days. It keeps for about 1 week, without losing the effect. The tapes are available in different colors, which are tailored to the clinical picture. Based on the Chinese Medicine (TCM) the colors a corresponding effect is attributed. The color red acts as stimuliend and toning. The color blue is calming, yellow counteracts edema. The color green affects activate regeneration in muscle fatigue and tendonitis. With an irritated knee joint effusion ( "Water in the knee"), for example, a blue tape is used. In a chronic back pain with weak muscles and pain improvement in heat one red tape would be preferred. The tape treatment is not provided by health insurance and must be paid. Some experts are convinced of the treatment, but these represent only a minority opinion. An unequivocal scientific evidence of effectiveness exists. Literature: Sielmann, D. (2011). Medi-Taping: pain free without medication. Work and textbook for medically trained therapists and for "Anyone".
          Applied Kinesiology
          • What is APPLIED KINESIOLOGY? This brochure is intended to describe a diagnostic and therapeutic method, which on first glance anmutet incredible. Who but himself, for the first time, as close patient undergoes this method will be amazed that it really works. History and Nature of Applied Kinesiology (AK) The American George Goodheart, Doctor of Chiropractic, is the discoverer of Applied Kinesiology. He first noticed that the strength of a manually tested muscle dramatically changed in many cases, e.g. was weak when the patient has a certain area of his body touched. These zones could e.g. Jammed Lymphabflüssen, weakened organs beherdeten teeth or blocked vertebrae or joints meet. This weakness could then taking certain medications, massage of certain reflex zones or chiropractic treatments are undone. Over many years of intense search and accurate studies of thousands of patients was a really holistic diagnostic and therapeutic system developed. In this system, Applied Kinesiology (AK) is the link between chemistry (Metabolism), structure and psyche - the so-called Triad of Health (The Triangle. Health). So the AK quasi the missing link - the missing link - that the naturopathic doctor working permits, using simple and efficient test protocols the bridge between the symptom for individual diagnosis and from there to individually appropriate therapy. What are the differences in applied kinesiology? This method is in contrast to the Applied Kinesiology and other Therapies that will be used mainly by amateurs, exclusively from therapists practiced with a medical degree exam. The classic form of AK as the only offers the full spectrum of therapeutic possibilities. It was further developed scientifically for over 30 years andby the experience of thousands of doctors, dentists, chiropractors, osteopaths and physiotherapists systematized throughout the world. The basic principle of Applied Kinesiology: The Challenge Definition: One understands a diagnostic challenge the body with structural, chemical or emotional stimuli. In simple terms, to be described as: The therapist will investigate according to the patient after the imposition of a common history (medical history). The reaction (strength) of various muscles that experience would have a relationship with the defendant fault is tested. Then, a diagnostic challenge (Challenge) is carried out, each of which is specific to the corresponding question. During or nachAusführung diagnostic provocation be retested and recorded and interpreted the change in the muscle test reaction of one or more muscles. Depending on the problem can be a Challenge chemical, mechanical or emotional nature. It can be distinguished basically two categories of issues: 1. Examination of the patient potentially harmful end or incriminating stimuli An example will illustrate this: The rectus femoris (straight thigh muscle) associated with the small intestine. He can optimally (as well as other muscles), for example, for a food test be used, as intolerance reactions potentially on the mucous membranes the gastrointestinal tract manifest. First, the rectus femoris is tested and checked whether it is normal prompt reaction. The normal reaction of a muscle is determined by stimulating an acupuncture point or sedating by specific inhibition manual. Both measures weaken et al the normal reagiblen muscle. Subsequently, the patient takes the milk to be tested in the mouth (chemical challenge) and the same muscle is tested again. If the milk is tolerated, the muscle test reaction does not (negative Challenge) changes. If the milk is incompatible, so there is a weakness or a hyper reaction (not Schwächbarkeit) of the test muscle, that is the Challenge is positive. 2. Examination of the patient potentially helping Measures: Manual therapy, medication etc. 1. Example (drug test) For example, to test whether a particular drug for a case of bronchitis appears and is effective and compatible, so, for example, from musculus deltoideus, which is associated with the lung and correspondingly at lung disease often in the muscle test is weak, be assumed. Of the patient / in taking the tested vitamin C preparation or any other drug in the mouth and the previously weak deltoid is retested. Is that tootested remedies compatible simultaneously, the muscle is currently strong and normal prompt reaction. This change of the muscular test reaction lasts only as long as the substance in the mouth. A lasting improvement in the finding is of course only when sufficiently long taking guaranteed. 2. Example (mechanical Challenge) A domain of AK is the manual medicine. At disturbances of bone, muscular system, the mechanical Challenge be used. For example be beck stabilizing muscles like the hamstrings (Thigh extensors), the test by a weak Beckenverwringung, currently strong when the patient is positioned prone on special wedges that beckenverwringung is corrected. This structural Challenge is saying, from, in which direction the Beck necessary to correct it. In orthodontics corrects a properly adjusted bite splint previously weak muscles in the sense a structural mechanical Challenge. Therapy localization A modification of the challenge is so-called localization therapy, in which the patient with his finger touched a potentially disturbed region. Located at the patients touched spot a deviation from the norm before, so changes the muscle testing response currently. A cooker test in the dental field can be carried out as follows: A normal reacting strong indicator muscle is wanted. The patient then touches the potentially beherdeten tooth with his finger. Meanwhile, thei ndicator muscle retested. There is a fault of touching the tooth, so is the previously normal muscle now weak or hyper-reactive. What effect Challenge and therapy localization The mechanism of action of the Challenge is only partially understood. The information systems of the nervous system but also other non-neural information systems (systems of basic regulation according to Pischinger, bio photons) are active in the diagnostic provocations of AK. What are the strengths of Applied Kinesiology, which applications are available for them? In naturopathy it is known that causes of disease symptoms often can start from very different points of the body (for example, a chronic Back problems with fungal colonization of the intestine are related). The strength of the AK is as with reference to an AK-check up's in a complex clinical picture (about one any chron. So to advance disease) to the roots of the root cause and the truly individual therapy (for example, manually-chiropractic or psychotherapy)
          Shockwave Therapy
          • What is shockwave therapy? Shockwave therapy is a modern, non-invasive form of therapy. As a non-invasive treatments are referred to without damaging the body surface. In orthopedics, the shock wave therapy has been used since the 90s, especially in persistent and painful tendon pathologies. What are shock waves? Physically shockwaves are acoustic waves which are formed in explosive processes - for example, lightning strikes or explosives explosions. They are characterized by an abrupt increase in pressure which propagates and so energy can be transferred to remote locations. This energy develops its force when the shock wave encounters an obstacle and can not spread further. occurring in nature shockwaves can even bring in this way windows bursting.
